An armed Force

I’m attempting to redesign the staple military coat, one of our seasonal keys pieces. Military uniforms have been long known for their fine tailoring, functionality, and craftsmanship. During WW2 civilians began wearing uniformed elements to show their patriotism. The iconic olive green military shirt has played a part in nearly every subculture, representing both military support and anti-war activism. This utilitarian basic has become an iconic garment in most contemporary wardrobes today, this AW I am on the scrounge for a old military shirt to replace my trusty denim shirt of the summer and I also want some Black army boots, hopefully my dad help me out! Woollen tights, shiny army boots and mini dresses….wait a second! Its 29 degrees outside! Why am I thinking about my AW10 wardrobe?! Priorities Rabbit!

Feeling Mod

I'm starting designing AW11 I am doing the usual trawl through archive imagry looking for inspiration. Every season I come back to the same conclusion, the mods are too cool! Mini skirts and hot pants are all over London at the moment with the heat blazing down on us, and we have Mary Quant to thank for this. She was one of the first to bring mod style to British retail. And for those of you who are scared to bare - she also started the printed tights which are all over the highstreet at the moment. Beachwear was transformed in the 1960's becuase of the mod revolution - with bold colour graphics and skin bearing cuts...this came in to replace the structure and restriction of the 1940's and 50's hourglass silhouette.

Below you cab see Peggy Moffitt wearing Rudi Gernreich's topless bathing suit along with other 'too cool for school' icons, like Marianne Faithful, Michelle Phillips and Francoise Hardy.

Inspired by Carpenter

Inspired by Carpenter and a previous blog, showing Photographs of a chap and his loved one feet as they travel the world together, mine won't be that exciting but here are my footsies around London Town. The first pics are of Regents park lake as i laze in a rowing boat last Saturday...and then Sunday i ventured to Hamstead Heath ponds and had a dip! Jam packed full of people all soaking up the lovely atmosphere and sunshine...

Only fools rush in

I am loving this song...

Today I am mostly liking...

Anything girly! I dont know whether its turning 25 and suddenly wanting to become a 'lady' or using my Kath Kidston umbrella in the summer rain this morning, either way, im loving anything pastelly and floral. Heres a few of the images I have liked today.

Camden garden centre

I love this little garden centre a few minutes from my work. I am donning a lilac silk dip dyed dress, you can see the inspiration in the David Austin roses, overall a very summery lunchtime...time for an Ice Lolly!

Wednesdays Rabbit's are digging denim

A real scorcher today in London so i have dug out the micro mini and teamed it with my bargain of the month - I got this embroidered denim shirt in a charity shop on Camden highstreet for one pound! Complimented with tassled sandals and a flower in my hair i was ready for anything, designing wool trans AW coats, England vs Slovenia or frolics and wine in Regents park! I really do love the sunshine.

A single man

I saw this at the cinema, A truly beautiful film, it had me captivated from beginning to end, an essential purchase to everyones DVD collection, and not just from a fashion perspective, saying that - Tom Ford is a bit bloody good! I can't take my eyes of Juilianne Moore. I love the soundtrack too.

From cow to cow...

So my first PP sample came in today at Ted (a leather jacket) and it wasn't a total flop! A celebratory tea was in order! I have never bought and made steak for myself before, only ever ordering it in a restaurant (my favourite steak was in Paris last summer) and it seemed apt after the leather arrival - so I hoppity hop to the market that is super and hey presto! Fillet steak - rare if you please! Homemade wedges, Balsamic blackened onions and peas.

Rabbit returns!

So firstly, apologies for my absence...but what a hectic, trying, exciting, emotional and down right crazy few months! Anything that could of changed - has! Some for the good, and the rest i'm trying to stay positive about...

a week of summer...

In the fear of summer coming and going, and not embracing the opportunity to strut the summer wardrobe, Rabbit, myself and our beautiful buddy are going to wear summer outfits everyday this week, so when we look back at the end of september we have proof that for a whole week we embraced summer 2010....enjoy x

wedding season!

wedding season has began, one last week and one today. The henna paries have began, and the invitations are rolling in. Got my first paid henna gig coming up, so i made the most of this weeks family wedding and did as many hands as i could, including my own at 12 am last night, so i didn't feel like i missed out....or get the sympatic, 'aw, you did everyone but you didn't do your own..awww.'
Must keep practicing!
